I was telling you in the letter (if you didn't read it yet, you can do so now) that I have a little project I can't wait to share with you. The project was made for the photography class at the university. I have had this concept in my head for ages and I'm so glad I could do it. I want to thank Cristina (the model - she also has a regular blog) and Hilda (my lights assistant) for their patience and help.  

Și-acum povestea. Pentru că vorbește despre machiaj și diferite stări, am vrut ca prin pozele și machiajele mele să transmit cum toți începem prin a fi inocenți și apoi devenim puțin sălbatici în adolescență. Apoi ne entuziasmăm să ne începem viața, devenim sofisticați și încercăm să adăugăm niște mister în viața noastră. Devenim triști când nu primim atenția pe care credem că o merităm și invidioși când o primesc alții în locul nostru. Suntem nervoși și devenim psihotici (aici, în mod evident nu mă refer la termenul medical, ci la faptul că fiecare are două persoane înăuntru: persoana ce vrem să fim și persoana ce suntem). În final, tot ce rămâne e extenuarea. 

And now for the story. As it covers makeup and emotions, I wanted to show how we all start by being innocent, and then go a little wild in our teenage years. Then we get excited for our life to begin, we become sophisticated and then try adding a little mystery to our lives. We become sad when we don't get the attention we feel we deserve and turn envious when someone else gets that. We get mad, we turn psychotic (I'm obviously not using this in the medical way, but more referring to us having two persons inside: the one we want to be and the one we truly are). In the end, all that's left though is exhaustion.

Am încecat să scot în evidență cum uneori machiajul ne ajută să ne arătăm starea sufletească și cum alteori încercăm să ne camuflăm emoțiile prin acesta. Mi-ar plăcea să transform conceptul într-un proiect mai amplu decât e acum dar asta îmi va lua ceva timp cu siguranță. Voi ce părere aveți?

I tried emphasizing how sometimes makeup helps us show our emotions and how other times we try to camouflage our emotions with it. I would like to transform this concept into a bigger project but this will take a lot of time, for sure. What do you think about it?

Not long ago I started watching, out of boredom, the TV show Beauty and the Beast. During one episode I saw Catherine Chandler, the main character, played by Kristin Kreuk, wearing what appeared to be a drawn on lace mask. Obviously it wasn't drawn on, it was actually Face Lace. It looked like this:

Nu-i așa că-i superbă? Ei bine, eu am încercat să recreez, din creion dermatograf modelul dantelat de pe fața ei iar ceea ce vedeți mai jos este rezultatul a o oră și jumătate de muncă. Bineînțeles pentru ca această idee să constituie un machiaj de Halloween reușit, puteți fie să completați masca și pe ochiul celălalt, fie să faceți un machiaj stricat pe cealaltă jumătate a feței, dacă ceea ce vă doriți e să fiți mai înfricoșătoare. Așa cum puteți vedea, machiajul creat de mine nu este identic cu cel din serial, întrucât am ales să răstorn și să măresc puțin partea de jos a măștii.

 A doua nuanţă din paletă este un albastru turcoaz superb, cu particule aurii de sidef. Pentru mine e una dintre cele mai bune nuanţe din paletă, atât calitativ cât şi din punct de vedere cromatic. Din nou, ţin să evidenţiez că în realitate particulele aurii sunt mai vizibile, acestea nefiind captate în totalitate pe cameră. 

The second shade in the palette is a gorgeous turquoise blue with golden shimmer. For me, this is one of the best shades in the palette, regarding both quality-wise and chromatic-wise. Again, I must stress that in reality the golden shimmer is more visible, as the camera wasn't able to capture them properly. 

• Shade 3

Here I managed to capture the color exactly how I see it: a shimmery mauve-ish brown in the pan, but turning into a rusty brown when swatched. Together with shade 2, this is among my favourites. As you can notice from the swatches above, this shade is pigmented enough to be aplied on its own, it isn't dusty at all and it is one of the few shades in this palette which can be worn without a primer and not crease in the first ten minutes. 

• Shade 4

Nu pot spune foarte multe despre nuanţa asta. E un albastru curat, cu particule de sidef. Are o pigmentare destul de bună şi nu e prăfos. 

I can't really say much about this. It is a crisp, icy blue with shimmer. It has a buildable pigmentation and it doesn't produce much fallout. 

• Shade 7

This purple was the shade I noticed when I got the palette. It is a bright, intense purple, slightly shimmery, which I love. It is the type of eyeshadow that offers a pop of color for a boring everyday makeup look.
